The Counselling Ministry is a Ministry of Acts Christian Church, and its vision and mission is to see people set free and serve Christ.

The Counselling Support I receive will be based on Biblical values and principles. Should the information shared be of such nature that intervention by the oversight is required – this matter will be escalated to the Senior Pastors.

I understand that should a Counsellor feel they cannot assist me, as the Counsellee, optimally; in my and/or Acts Christian Church’s best interest - I can be referred to a Professional or a Ministry Leader.

It is required by law that ANY incidences of “reasonably suspected child abuse”, the intent to harm or endanger another person or one’s self, be reported to the relevant authorities.

According to the requirements for spiritual growth of Acts Christian Church, I undertake to complete E1 (Discipleship Course) and E2 (Encounter).

If I choose to go through Counselling, I will make every attempt to become a part of a Cell/ Connect Group, as well as attend one of Acts Christian Church’s Sunday Services.

I commit to arriving to Counselling sessions punctually.

Out of courtesy, I will give at least 24 hour’s notice when cancelling an appointment.

A. MINISTRY COUNSELLING CONCEPT

Jesus said, “…..You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Acts ministry counsellors believe that the Bible is truth and sufficient for addressing all of life’s problems that are not organic in nature, and that reliance on the Holy Spirit is essential. Therefore, Acts Ministry counsellors use the Bible as their primary tool in bringing a counselee’s concerns to resolution while relying on the Holy Spirit for the results.

B. MINISTRY COUNSELLING CREDENTIALS

Acts Ministry counsellors are either ordained pastoral counsellors or under the supervision of an ordained pastoral counsellor and have been Biblically trained to Minster God’s grace to others. All counsellors will act in a pastoral capacity and do not offer medical support of any nature

C. CONFIDENTIALITY COMMITMENT

All information disclosed to your counsellor will be kept in strict confidences. Acts ministry intakes, notes and personal testimonies taken, given, or shared will not be transferred to anyone except when the information is used in consultation (see Consultation Consent). However, person receiving counselling can expect confidentiality to be modified in the following situations: 1. When the personal safety of the counselee or another person is an issue. 2. When any form of child abuse (physical or sexual) or child neglect is disclosed to or suspected by your counsellor.

D. APPOINTMENTS AND CHILDCARE

If the counselee has to reschedule an appointment, they should do so at least 24 hours in advance so that the counsellor may reschedule their time and give others an opportunity to fill the vacated time slot. Childcare is the responsibility of the parent or guardian. Child are is not provided by Acts. Parents or guardians must remain on the premises while a child is being counseled in order to facilitate communication with the counsellor and in order to be present in the event of an emergency.

E. GROUP OR FAMILY COUNSELLING

Confidentiality within group sessions is an essential aspect of a safe and restorative environment. All communication that occurs in a counselling or training environment is confidential and is not to be shared outside of the group. Acts ministry notes and personal testimonies taken, given, or shared during the group session will not be transferred to anyone except when the information is used in consultation (see Consultation consent).
