The Cross of Jesus | Christopher Alam

John 11
45 Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him. 46 But some of them went away to the Pharisees and told them the things Jesus did.

53 Then, from that day on, they plotted to put Him to death.

John 12

Now a great many of the Jews knew that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.10 But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also, 11 because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.

20 Now there were certain Greeks among those who came up to worship at the feast. 21 Then they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.”22 Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn Andrew and Philip told Jesus.23 But Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. 24 Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. 25 He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.27 “Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour. 28 Father, glorify Your name.”

Jesus never let his popularity distract him from his real purpose why he came to the world which is  to die on the cross for our sins.

5 reasons why Jesus dying on the cross is so glorious:

1.) He bore all our sins upon Him!
     – John 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world;
2.) He defeated the devil!
     – John 12:31  …now the ruler of this world will be cast out.
     – Colossians 2:15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
3.) He set us free from the curse of the law!
     – Colossians 2:14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
4.) Bore all of our diseases!
     – Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
5.) Allowed access for all to receive salvation!
     – John 12:32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.”

Conclusion:

Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by [b]whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

2 Corinthians  617 Therefore

“Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”
18 “I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the Lord Almighty.”

Separate yourself from this world and separate yourself unto the Lord
